January has been an incredible month on the Gold Coast. With the way the public holidays fell, many people enjoyed a clear two-week break, starting the Monday before Christmas and continuing through the New Year. It’s no wonder we saw record numbers of visitors. This extended holiday seemed to give everyone a chance to truly relax, creating a wonderful atmosphere on the Coast, complemented by spectacular weather.
It’s also no surprise that so many visitors reaffirmed their love for the Gold Coast, sparking an increase in property inspections. Many are now joining the great Australian migration. The pandemic undoubtedly played a role in this trend, as it drove people to escape larger population centers with heavy restrictions. What started as a short stay turned into a permanent move for many, and now their extended family and friends are following suit. This ongoing migration has had a profound impact on our thriving property market.
Now, back to this weekend—it marks the culmination of an iconic 31-year tradition: The Event. As the largest single-day property auction in Australia, The Event is a Gold Coast highlight, and we’re proud that the concept originated in our office. It’s the Magic Millions of real estate.
The Event garners significant media attention and is often seen as the real estate market’s litmus test as we begin a new year. This year’s Event takes place on Monday, 27th January, at the Royal Pines Resort, Benowa.
Traditionally held on a Sunday, we’ve moved The Event to the public holiday on Monday out of respect for Australia Day celebrations on Sunday, 26th January.
In addition to the auctions, we’re hosting the Gold Coast Home and Living Expo, featuring a wide range of exhibitors. From lawyers and finance brokers to property managers and interior designers, you’ll find an array of professionals ready to chat.
This year, car enthusiasts are in for a treat! The revolutionary BYD SHARK 6, Australia’s first-ever plug-in hybrid petrol-electric dual-cab ute, will make its official Gold Coast debut at The Event. Don’t miss the chance to see it up close!

Doors open at 10am for the Expo, with auctions kicking off at 11am. Arrive early to secure parking and a great seat for all the action.
